Plug-in Van Grant Extended

Plug-in Van Grant Extended – More Support for Businesses Going Electric

Great news for businesses and van drivers! Future of Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood has announced on 25 February 2025 that the Plug-in Van Grant will be extended for another year, making the transition to zero-emission vehicles even more accessible.

With this extension, businesses can continue to receive:
✅ Up to £2,500 off the purchase of small electric vans (up to 2.5 tonnes)
✅ Up to £5,000 off larger electric vans (up to 4.25 tonnes)

Since its launch, the Plug-in Van Grant has supported the sale of over 80,000 electric and zero-emission vans, demonstrating the government’s commitment to greener business transport.

In addition, a key regulatory change will make switching to electric even easier—the requirement for extra training when driving zero-emission vans will be removed. Previously, electric vans faced stricter licensing conditions than their petrol or diesel counterparts, adding unnecessary costs and complexity. This change will:
✔ Cut training costs
✔ Reduce red tape
✔ Make it easier for businesses to hire drivers for electric fleets
